Heroin worth 400 000 leva seized - Bulgaria - The Sofia Echo: "joint police operation, involving units from the Customs Agency in the town of Svilengrad, the Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (CDCOC) and the Sofia criminal police department found 5.5 kg of heroin in a bus travelling from Istanbul to Sofia, private television channel bTV reported on January 17 2011.

The arrests were made once the bus arrived in Sofia, while the drugs were concealed in a 'secret compartment' within a suitcase, the report said.

Five men, all native of Sofia, were apprehended. Reportedly, they were 'well known' to the authorities in relation to a previous incident involving the sale and distribution of drugs. The street value of the heroin is estimated at about 400 000 leva, the report said."
