Chinese druglord sentenced to death - UPI.com: "south China court has sentenced the boss of a drug gang to death, authorities said Saturday.

The Guangzhou Intermediate People's Court sentenced Wu Zhijian Friday for leading a criminal gang, murder, kidnapping and drug and weapons offenses, officials told Xinhua, China's official news agency.

Three of his associates were sentenced to death with two-year reprieves, four received life sentences and 11 others were given prison terms of less than 20 years.

Prosecutors said Wu started producing and selling drugs with his fellow criminals in 2007. During the next year he bought firearms and ammunition to take over the regional drug trade."
