Fortune pleaded no contest Tuesday in Wood County Circuit Court to delivering 5 to 15 grams of cocaine as party to a crime, delivering 15 to 40 grams of cocaine as party to a crime and as a subsequent offense and delivering 5 to 15 grams of cocaine as party to a crime and as a subsequent offense. Charges of delivering marijuana as party to a crime and delivering 1 to 5 grams of cocaine as party to a crime were dismissed and read into the record.Judge James Mason revoked a $10,000 signature bond and ordered a presentence investigation. Fortune, who is at the Racine Correctional Institution, faces a maximum of 53 years, six months in prison. His next court appearance is scheduled for March 14."

BBC News - Baseball player caught with £1.28m drug haul in Glasgow: "unemployed baseball player has admitted trying to smuggle cocaine with a potential street value of £1.28m into Scotland from the United States.
Mexican Juan Guerrero was caught with the drug in his suitcase at Glasgow Airport in October last year.
The High Court in Glasgow heard how the cocaine, which was 89% pure, had to be extracted from white-coloured foam.
Judge Lady Smith told Guerrero, 37, to expect a prison sentence and deferred sentence for background reports."

Colombia arrests 7 in probe of students' murder - Fox News Latino: "Colombian army troops nabbed seven suspected members of the Los UrabeƱos drug gang during operations they carried out in the northwestern province of Cordoba after two college students were murdered on a Caribbean beach.

The arrests occurred in the northern municipality of Montelibano, according to a communique from the army news agency.

Those taken into custody were in possession of five rifles, two handguns and 3,000 rounds of ammunition, the agency said.

Soldiers and police are rolling out operations in Cordoba to find the killers of Margarita Gomez, 23, and Mateo Matamala, 26, both students at Los Andes University in Bogota.

The students were fatally shot on a beach in San Bernardo del Viento, where their bodies were found last Monday."

Atlantic City man charged after police find gun, marijuana, cocaine - pressofAtlanticCity.com: Atlantic City | Pleasantville | Brigantine: "arrested Jeremy Gordy, 22, of the 1000 block of Baltic Avenue, during an investigation into reports of loitering and drug and weapon activity in the area.

Police said they found a loaded handgun in the waistband of Gordy's pants. They said they also found Gordy to be in possession of marijuana and cocaine.
Gordy is charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance within 500 feet of a park.
Gordy was lodged in the Atlantic County Jail on $75,000 bail, police said."

Two arrested in drug bust: "Authorities found almost 104 pounds of cocaine and $2.3 million after raiding a warehouse in the Valencia Commerce Center, police said Monday.

Two men, aged 19 and 32, of Toronto, were arrested on several drug-related charges Friday night after authorities searched the Constellation Road warehouse as well as a semi truck in Valencia and a home in North Hollywood, said Sgt. Jay Trisler of the Santa Monica Police Department.

The drug bust came after almost two weeks of surveillance by several police agencies.

Investigators began following one of the suspects on Jan. 5, after learning he had been arrested in a past major cocaine bust, Trisler said.

The two men were going to smuggle the cocaine into Canada, according to a statement from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement."

BBC News - Spain raids 'Europe's largest cocaine lab': "Spanish police have raided a huge drug-production lab near Madrid, seizing 300kg of cocaine and 2m euros in cash.

The police arrested 25 people and said the facility was the 'largest and most sophisticated' cocaine lab in Europe.

They said the suspects included Spaniards and Colombians, and they had imported the drug by hiding it in shipping containers of coffee.

Spain is a major transit point for drugs from the cocaine-producing nations of Latin America.

The police raided the lab, in the village of Villanueva de Perales, after a two-year investigation."

Women jailed over bodysuit drug smuggling bid - National - Diss Express: "Two women have each been jailed for more than 10 years after they were caught on a cruise ship in Kent attempting to smuggle cocaine into the country using bodysuits.

Lithuanian Violeta Ivanova, 48, and Maria Kosturkova, 20, from Bulgaria, were the final two of eight smugglers to be jailed for their part in the conspiracy, the UK Border Agency (UKBA) said.

The pair pleaded guilty last August to attempting to smuggle 77lb (35kg) of cocaine with an estimated street value of £1.4 million, into the UK on board the MSC Orchestra at Dover, Kent.

They were each jailed for 10 and a half years at Canterbury Crown Court, following the sentencing of six other Bulgarian and Lithuanian nationals on Friday."

Dutchman gets 11 years for drug smuggling in Germany | Radio Netherlands Worldwide: "40-year old Dutchman has been sentenced by a German court to 11 years in prison for drug smuggling. The Munich district court said the man was guilty of smuggling and selling 473 kilograms of cannabis.

Munich local daily Merkur reported that RenƩ B. (surname withheld for legal reasons) organised several trips to transport drugs into Germany between 2003 and 2005. While a number of suppliers and drug couriers had been taken into custody, B. was able to continue with his business in drugs. Some 50 people were involved in the drug ring, of which 13 have been arrested. It's expected that B. will be able to serve his sentence in the Netherlands."

Heroin worth 400 000 leva seized - Bulgaria - The Sofia Echo: "joint police operation, involving units from the Customs Agency in the town of Svilengrad, the Chief Directorate for Combating Organised Crime (CDCOC) and the Sofia criminal police department found 5.5 kg of heroin in a bus travelling from Istanbul to Sofia, private television channel bTV reported on January 17 2011.

The arrests were made once the bus arrived in Sofia, while the drugs were concealed in a 'secret compartment' within a suitcase, the report said.

Five men, all native of Sofia, were apprehended. Reportedly, they were 'well known' to the authorities in relation to a previous incident involving the sale and distribution of drugs. The street value of the heroin is estimated at about 400 000 leva, the report said."

Ferry passenger faces charges for coke, heroin possession: "31-year-old man is facing charges after he was arrested at the Departure Bay ferry terminal with one-and-a-half kilos of cocaine and heroin.

Nanaimo RCMP arrested him as he walked off a BC Ferry Saturday at 8:30 p.m.

Police searched the man and his belongings and discovered one kilogram of heroin and half a kilogram of cocaine.

Police are recommending charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and a charge of obstruction, which stems from the suspect providing a false name to officers."

If convicted, he faces a mandatory minimum of 10 years in prison, and up to life.

An arrest warrant affidavit said Garza met an undercover DEA agent about 11:18 a.m. in the parking lot of South Park Mall to finish off a deal the two had arranged a day earlier: a kilo for $35,000.

Garza, the affidavit said, pulled out two packages from his coat pocket and put them under the front passenger seat of the agent's car. He was then arrested and the drugs were seized."

St Vincent manheld for $1m cocaine | Trinidad Express Newspaper | News: "52-year-old St Vincent handyman is expected to appear before an Arima magistrate today, charged with attempting to export $1 million worth of cocaine.
Police said around 4 p.m. on Saturday, the man disembarked from a Liat flight from St Vincent and made his way to Piarco Airport's intransit section to await Caribbean Airlines Flight 610, which was destined for the Pearson International Airport in Toronto, Canada.
A team of Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau officers, who were on duty at the time, noticed the man's 'suspicious' actions and searched his bags. Police said they found a quantity of cocaine hidden among his clothes.
He was taken to the Arima Police Station and charges of attempting to export cocaine as well as possession of such were laid against him."
